There is no such thing as a free lunch

Dear friends,

there is no such thing as a free lunch.

today, on my may for CICCU's Friday Lunchtime Talk, where they serve free lunch, i discovered in practice what that saying really meant:

i am inadvertently cycling the wrong way on a one way lane
...behind another cyclist also heading down the wrong direction

this other cyslist decides, for reasons unknown to me and perhaps not to him either, to Suddenly brake
i brake in time, thankfully. but i somehow forget that using the front brakes (in addition to rear brakes, which for some reason are misbehaving today) at high speed naturally results in...

so on my way back down to earth, a cyclist coming from the other (proper) direction graciously meets me with his bike-wheel
he reminds me (and the sudden-braking cyclist) that it's a one way road

i limp (not due to this incident, but one a few days ago when my bike skidded randomly* at a corner) towards FLT, whilst dragging my bike
deciding to check if i am still on time, i discover my phone has somehow escaped my pocket, perhaps at some point during the rotation about the front wheel of my bike..

i could go on and tell you about the trip to the bike shop, and how i ended up missing FLT altogether ( i went to the wrong location)

but there. i have my conclusion.

oh well,

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth
(Psalm 34:1)

*randomly: ok, i concede that there was some element of recklessness, but really, i plead minimal culpability!

p.s. if anyone calls or texts you with my number, you know what to do ;)

my phone fell out of my pocket when I was cycling to lectures sleepily - luckily for me someone picked up my phone and called the last number I had dialed (coincidentally a chemist as well) and I got my phone back that way.

    I hope all is well! :) x
